Cross in Hand Road - Cyclist seriously injured Traffic Collision - 30-08-2008

A 42-year-old man from Waldron suffered serious, but not life-threatening injuries when his bicycle was in collision with a Ford Transit van at Cross-in-Hand, near Heathfield.

Following the collision, which occurred just before 9am on Thursday (28 August) at the junction with the B2102 and A267, the man was airlifted to Eastbourne District General Hospital by the Sussex Police helicopter.

The driver of the Transit was arrested on suspicion of careless/dangerous driving and was later bailed to return on 26 October.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to contact PC Richard Trundle of the Polegate Road Policing Unit on 0845 60 70 999 quoting Operation Hartoft.
