Sussex beat Hampshire at the Castle - 19-07-2008
|
Sussex win by 10 wickets Sussex today recorded their second win of the County Championship with an emphatic 10 wicket victory over Hampshire at Arundel.
Starting the day on 127 for 7, Hampshire trailed by 42 runs with 3 wickets. A few early fours from the bat of Mascarenhas (22) and Pothas (44) did not dampen the Sussex spirits and Corey Collymore struck twice to down the visitors to 175 for 9.
Ollie Rayner then took his fifth wicket of the innings as Mascarenhas was caught at silly point by Carl Hopkinson. Rayner returned career best figures of 5 for 49.
Sussex were left needing just 11 to win and this took only 8 balls, as Chris Nash (3 not out) and Michael Yardy (8 not out) ensured that Sussex won by 10 wickets and took the full 22 points on offer. The visitors took just 5 back to the Rose Bowl.
