Appeal following assault in Preston Park, Brighton - 04-07-2008
|
Police in Brighton are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted in Preston Park.
The incident took place at around 1.55pm on Tuesday July 1st as the victim was walking through the park. A man grabbed her from behind and pulled her to the floor but then ran off when he was disturbed by a dog walker.
The description of the attacker that both victim and witness gave is of a white man aged 40 to 45, medium build, 5'8" to 5'10" tall with light hair. His hair is described as dark blonde (not brown), clipped short at the sides and back and slightly longer on top with a fringe. He had a pale complexion and was clean shaven. He was wearing a light blue post office type shirt with a red logo on the breast pockets and two or three buttons undone at the neck. He was also wearing knee length navy blue shorts.
Initial police enquiries indicate that the suspect may have been an ex Royal Mail employee or someone posing as a postman. Police are still conducting enquiries and Royal Mail are fully co-operating with the investigation. Early indications are that the suspect is not currently a Royal Mail employee, but police are considering all possibilities.
Anyone with information is asked to call 0845 60 70 999 and quote serial 904 of July 1st. Information can also be left anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. |
