Appeal following armed robbery in Crawley - 04-07-2008

Crawley Police are investigating an armed robbery which occurred just before 9am this morning (Friday 4th July) at Coral Bookmakers, Broadfield Barton, Broadfield.

A man entered the shop and threatened staff with what has been described as a handgun. The man is described as black and in his 20s and was wearing black trousers with a white stripe down the side. He was also wearing a black hooded top with the hood up and carrying a black rucksack with a yellow stripe on it.

The man obtained a sum of money from the shop and then made off on foot. No shots were discharged and no one was injured.

If any member of the public sees a man matching the description please contact Sussex Police immediately.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area at the time or in Coral Bookmakers this morning and who may have seen the man to contact Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999 quoting serial 360 of July 4th. Information can also be left anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
