Appeal for witnesses following sexual assault in Hove - 04-07-2008

During the early hours of this morning (Friday 4th July) a woman was sexually assaulted in Clarendon Villas, Hove. Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which took place at around 1am.

Although the investigation is at an early stage police would like to trace a man described as Asian in appearance, wearing a baseball cap, dark jacket and jogging bottoms. Police stress that this type of incident is extremely rare and is being treated as an isolated incident.

In order to enable investigating officers to conduct a thorough search of the area Goldstone Street and Clarendon Villas have been closed this morning. Officers will also be conducting house to house enquiries.
