Oakridge residents encouraged to attend public meeting about community safety - 04-07-2008
|
Oakridge residents are the latest to benefit from CREW - Crime Reduction Environment Work - when staff from the borough council, police, housing associations and Neighbourhood Watch come together to tackle community safety issues and concerns of local residents on Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 July.
The event, which has been running for three years across the borough, is designed to tackle some of the major issues in an area. Targeted up to a week, staff from a range of organisations work together to clean up the area and work with residents to encourage them to maintain this effort.
This month CREW is taking place in Oakridge and to start the ball rolling, there will be a public meeting held on Monday 7 July at 7pm at the Oakridge Hall for All in Forsythia Walk. This will give residents an opportunity to share their views and concerns and put their questions to a panel of experts.
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Development Cllr Clive Sanders said: "CREW gives residents a great opportunity to share their views and concerns and to help us to help them continue to make their environment a good one.
"CREW has already proved to be successful in many areas across the borough and I'm pleased that we're targeting one of the Community Safety Forum's key priority areas in a bid to tackle some of the real issues there." |
