World Mental Health Day - 13 Oct 2008
|
Barnet Primary Care Trust (PCT) is working in partnership with other organisations to celebrate World Mental Health Day 2008. A free conference has been planned and is open to everyone, including users, carers and professionals between 9.30am - 2.30pm on 13 October 2008. The event will be held in the Conference Rooms, Building 2, North London Business Park, Oakleigh Road South, London N11 1NP.
The theme for World Mental Health Day 2008 is, ‘Making mental health a global priority: scaling up services through advocacy and action'. The Deputy Mayor will be addressing those present and Andrew Burnett, Director for Health Improvement / Medical Director at Barnet PCT will be introducing the morning. The day will bring together both professionals and service users with the objective of raising awareness, promoting social inclusion and combating discrimination and stigma associated with mental illness and suicide.
Throughout the day, there will be insightful presentations tackling the issues of mental health advocacy, a carer's perspective on mental health will be explored, and issues surrounding making mental health a priority and scaling up services will be discussed. Following this attendees are invited to participate in a workshop and there will be the opportunity to ask the speakers questions. Barnet Asian Women's Association are kindly providing the food, whilst the Richmond Fellowship are managing registration.
