Police witness appeals - 3 July 2008 - 04-07-2008

Although overall crime for London has gone down (6.7%) compared to last year and latest crime statistics reveal that burglaries in London have also slightly reduced (by 2.8%); robberies, unfortunately, have increased (by 6.2%).

To help combat this the police have introduced the Safer Neighbourhood Teams to Brent and other London boroughs.

The Police have issued the following weekly news release detailing crime incidents in Brent where they are appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information that may help them with their enquiries.

Assault on Fryent Way, London NW9 on Friday 20.06.08 between 1:00am-2:00am
Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a suspected attack on a 26 year old male. The victim left the pub went to his friend's flat on Fryent Way on Friday 20 June 2008. The victim was attacked between the times of 1:00am and 2:00am after he left his friends flat, walked along the service road from Fryent Way (back of Kingsbury Road), towards the taxi rank.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries. The victim sustained a broken jaw in the attack. Police believe the assault might have happened near Tonky Gorilla or the block of flats near the Kingsbury roundabout.

The suspects have been described as Asian males in their 20's.

Assault on Carlton Avenue East, Wembley, Middlesex on Saturday 28.6.08 at 2:00am
A 46 year old male victim was walking with his girlfriend at about 2:00am along Carlton Avenue East towards Preston Road. Walking towards them were two males described a Eastern European aged in their early 20s. Both had short mousey coloured hair, and were around 5'10 tall. One of the males was wearing a white hooded top. The hood was down at the time. He was also carrying a green plastic bag. The other suspect was wearing a brown polo neck jumper and blue jeans. As the victim and males passed each other the male with the white top barged into the victim. The suspect then dropped his bag on the floor and the contents smashed. Both suspects then proceeded to kick the victim who fell to the ground and was then kicked in the head. The suspects ran off onto Logan Road. The victim was taken to hospital suffering minor injuries.

The investigation officer said, "This is an appalling act of violence used on an innocent victim. Police are making every effort to identify the suspects for this offence. Assault and attempted robbery in Ashford Court, Ashford Road, London, NW2 on Saturday 28.6.08 at 4:00am
A 35 year old female was followed through the communal doors of the block of flats. As the victim walked up the stairs to the 6th floor the suspect grabbed the victim from behind and attempted to put his hand over her mouth to grab her handbag. The victim screamed and struggled with the suspect, the suspect then dragged her down two flights of stairs. During the struggle the victim continued to scream. The suspect then gave up and ran off down the street emptied handed.

The suspect is described as a black male, 6'tall, approximately 25-30 years old, wearing a waist-length jacket and dark blue jeans. He had cropped black hair.

Robbery at HSBC, High Road, Wembley, Middlesex on Saturday 28.6.08 at 5:30pm
A 71 year old male was about to withdraw money from the cash machine when a male suspect pushed him and took his card out of the cash point. The victim struggled, but the suspect ran away and got into another vehicle taking the victim's card.

The suspect is described as an Asian male, 5'4 tall, approximately 20 years old, he was wearing light blue Nike Air t-shirt, light blue 3/4 length tracksuit bottoms, white Nike Air max trainers, and he had black cropped hair.

Robbery in Princess Court, Shoot up Hill, London, NW2 on Sunday 29.6.08 at 12:20am
A 22 year old male and his friend were waiting at the lift when they realised there was a male standing next to them holding a knife in his hand. The suspect demanded their property. Both victims gave him their property. He turned around and ran out of the building taking the victims' mobile phones, credit cards, driving licence and some cash.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5'10 tall, approximately 30 years old, of a stocky build, and he was wearing dark clothing with a hood worn up.

Theft from vehicle on Chapman Crescent, Harrow, Middlesex on Saturday 28.6.08 at 4:00am
A 20 year old male parked his silver Lexus at 4:00am on 28.6.08. He returned next day and noticed the window was smashed, and a white-gold men's bracelet and Toshiba laptop were missing from the vehicle.

Theft from vehicle on Brockley Road, Wembley, Middlesex on Thursday 26.6.08 at 11:00pm
A 49 year old male parked his green Chrysler Voyager at 11:00pm on 26.6.08 in his driveway. He returned two days later and noticed his sat-nav, playstation and TV screens from the front headrests were missing from the vehicle.
