Business Advice Open Days in the UK

If you are planning on starting your own business, home based or otherwise, one thing to consider before you do so is booking yourself in for a Business Advice Open Day.  This would also be useful if you have recently started your own business in the UK and want to learn some new tactics.

Business Advice Open Days are designed to give you advice and support about the practical aspects and potential pitfalls in starting and maintaining your own business. There are experts in this field on hand to offer guidance and good advice on everything from how to begin coping with subjects such as tax, engaging first employees, through to how to keep your business thriving in these difficult economic times.

These Open Days also give advice on how to ensure your business is complying with government regulations, methods to obtain additional funding and also how to use developments in marketing and new technology to your advantage. Business Advice Open Days are a cross-governmental business support scheme, organised by HM Revenue and Customs' Business Liaison Team, for the purpose of providing free high quality advice and support to small business owners. Since the scheme began more than one million businesses have been invited to attend, with more than 3000 exhibitors contributing from all over the United Kingdom. More than 90,000 seminar places have been booked by individuals that are already running, or who are interested in running their own business, and the numbers continue to grow.  This is for the simple reason that these seminars deliver on what they promise.

If you own or intend to start a business and have the time available, it is very much in your interest to attend a Business Advice Open Day. There are so many topics covered, many of which will be beneficial to you. The seminars offer advice on all factors of running your own business in the UK and all this is free of charge!

Numerous professional and government organisations attend these events, giving help and advice on everything from data protection to environmental issues. They include Business Link, the UK Intellectual Property Office, the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys, Jobcentre Plus, Age Positive and many other regional support agencies. However, you should be aware that not all agencies attend all open days, so it is best to check beforehand if there is a specific agency you wish to receive advice from.

The organisation even has drop in centres where you can receive more personal advice on subjects such as setting up a limited company; VAT, Corporation Tax, National Insurance and exporting and importing issues.

To attend a Business Advice Open Day, all you have to do is to register and book a place, preferably early, as these events can fill up fast.  Apply either by telephone on 0121 697 4065, fax 0121 697 4066 or online. There is no charge for any of the events, but any refreshments have to be paid for. The seminar organisers always try to ensure that disabled persons have access to their events. Hearing loops, and slide handouts in Braille, for those with hearing and sight difficulties are available if requested ahead of time. If you cannot attend any events, but are interested in receiving business advice, contact the HMRC help-lines.
