Ladies Only Midnight Walk   This is the third Midnight Walk in Lincoln and it came about because some of our supporters wanted to take part in a walk with a difference! hence the 'midnight' walk evolved to encourage ladies to participate on a sponsored night walk.

The walk is six miles and has attracted ladies from 13 to 75 years of age. Men are not left out and are welcome to come along and help marshal the event.   This year it is hoped that 1,000 ladies will be taking to the streets of Lincoln to take part in the St Barnabas Midnight Walk on Saturday 11th July 2009.

At the start there will be live music music, a Lincs FM presenter and a gentle warm up to see you on your way! The Walk starts at Lincoln City Football Ground Sincil Bank and goes along the High Street, up Steep Hill, round the Cathedral and then returning to Sincil Bank over University Bridge where ladies will be presented with a medal and  receive welcome refreshements.

"Last year this event raised a fantastic £40,000 for the hospice and the target this year is £60,000 as this will enable us to further develop our current hospice at home service. Thanks to support from Lincs FM  and David Lloyd Fitness the regstration entry fee has remained at only £10. This covers the event costs and then all the sponsorship money raised by each of the walkers is purely to spend on providing the best care for our hospice patients" says Kim Frow, Fundraising Manager for St Barnabas.

Each lady will receive a free t-shirt, refreshments and a medal on the night.

Jacky is one such lady who took part in the Midnight Walk last year and together with three other ladies raised £800. Their ages ranged from 75 to 64 and they really enjoyed the fun and comradeship they experienced on the walk.

Jacky lost her husband in the hospice and is grateful to St Barnabas for all the care they gave her husband during his illness. Jacky said " I wanted to do something for St Barnabas and doing the Midnight Walk gave me the opportunity to raise funds for the hospice. I also organised a coffee morning just before the walkin memory of my late husband and this boosted the total money raised from our sponsorship money". photo 6252 jpg shows Jacky with her friends at the start of the walk.
