abcfund

 The abcfund is a very local registered children's charity providing trips and treats for disadvantaged children and their families.

The objectives of the fund are: the relief of poverty hardship and distress among children, young people and their families or carers, particularly those with disabilities or special needs.

We hope to put a smile on the faces of families who live with illness and disabilities day in and day out, year in and year out.

We like arranging surprise visits for these children and providing days out for them and their mums and dads who need a break.

Christmas is a very exciting time for most children and their families, but there are a lot who struggle either due to poverty, bereavement, illness or abuse. Very often it is their siblings who suffer in silence.

Thanks to many contributors, we are able to pay for seats at four pantomimes this year, a total of around 600 seats. Every child leaves the theatre with a selection box. Southern fm's Help A Local Child has enabled us to hire the Santa Express on the Bluebell Railway and we have 300 seats - Santa's going to be busy.

Christmas hampers are always in demand and last year we distributed 45 luxury food hampers to local families in need. We know that demand this year will be even greater.

Are you able to contribute towards our funds? Our families come from Crossroads, Refuge, SNAPPS, Homestart, Gingerbread, local schools, hospices, churches and children's wards.

We have contributed Spencer bears to the ambulance service, in memory of 3year old Spencer, for the comfort of traumatized children. We also hire coaches in the summer and go off to a venue where we pay entrance fees and provide a picnic for around 70 people.
