Welcome to the Rainbow Centre Specialists in conductive education helping children with Cerebral Palsy throughout the South of England.
The Rainbow Centre helps children with motor impairment learn to overcome their difficulties using a system of learning called Conductive Education.
Motor impairment means difficulty with movements controlled by the central nervous system and the most common cause of this is cerebral palsy.
Cerebral palsy is a condition caused through lack of oxygen to the brain during pregnancy, during the delivery, or after the birth. One in four hundred babies is affected and the condition is not curable, but the difficulties experienced can be overcome in many cases.

Developed over the last 50 years at the Peto Institute in Budapest, the availability of Conductive Education was very limited outside of Hungary until 1990.
The Rainbow Centre was established in 1990 to provide this special system of learning without the need to travel to Hungary.
Since this time The Rainbow Centre has helped over 400 children from seven of the Southern Counties. (Hampshire & IOW, Dorset, Sussex, Surrey, Berkshire, Wiltshire, Kent).
The Centre provides for young children, sometimes as young as six months, working comprehensively with them in small groups.
It also provides a Saturday Club for school-aged children as well as individually tailored sessions in some cases.
The Rainbow Centre is affiliated to SCOPE and is part of the School for Parents Network.

It is a fundamental principle of the centre that no child
is denied Conductive Education due to lack of money.
