Lawn Care in Southampton

Based in Chandlers Ford, and working all around the Southampton areas, Greenkeeper Lawns provide a top quality lawn care service to enhance your lawn, care for it and maintain it.

From just £10 per month - we can guarantee to have your lawn looking beautiful within 6 months.

Our services and lawn treatments:

• Feeding and fertilising
• Weeds
• Lawn disease
• Lawn pests
• Hollow tine aeration & scarification
• Water conserving treatment

Every lawn is different, so our service always starts with a detailed lawn analysis, which helps us to identify the best programme of treatments for your lawn. However, typical treatments include:

Feeding and fertilising
Typically, lawns are treated four times a year using Scotts professional slow-release fertilisers. The applications will be varied depending on the needs of your lawn and the demands of the season, to ensure that your lawn receives steady, balanced nutrition and remains thick, green and lush throughout the year.

Weeds
Part of our initial analysis of your lawn will audit not only the presence of common weeds such as daisies, dandelions and clover, but also more persistent weeds including woodrush, lesser celandine and speedwell. Our care programme will include the use of the best Scotts weed control treatments to kill weeds - and prevent their return.

Lawn disease
Because of the seasonal nature of many garden diseases, at Greenkeeper we consider it essential that our own highly trained staff visit every time. They are perpetually on the watch for symptoms of a range of fungal and parasitic diseases including red thread, fusarium and fairy rings, and will swiftly, and if necessary repeatedly, administer appropriate treatment until your lawn is restored to its full glory.

Lawn pests
Common lawn pests include leatherjackets (the larvae of the crane fly) and the garden chafer (the larvae of the may bug), both of which feed on your lawn's roots and young shoots. Whilst a small presence is part of nature's balance and can be kept under control by birds and a good hard frost, large numbers of these pests can cause devastation. Greenkeeper will monitor the size and growth of the population and intervene to control it if it becomes threatening to the health of your lawn.

Hollow tine aeration & scarification
Over time, even the healthiest and best tended lawns acquire a layer of organic detritus on the surface of the soil, which is known as thatch. Thatch reduces the ease with which air, water and nutrients can reach the soil, and provides a dense, damp environment for moss to germinate in.

Greenkeeper will monitor levels of thatch and may recommend scarification or hollow tine aeration to keep it under control.

Scarification is a mechanical process recommended to reduce surface thatch, and therefore moss. A professional scarification machine is run over the lawn, lifting the surface thatch and thus removing the moss growing in it.

Hollow tine aeration uses specialist professional equipment to punch out cores from the lawn's surface and top layer of soil. This not only thins the thatch, but also improves drainage, stimulates the lawn's root growth, and reduces compaction of the soil. The cores removed from the lawn can be left to break down and provide a nutritious dressing.

Water conserving treatment
It's one of the ironies of British life that no matter how much it seems to rain, your lawn still suffers over the long, hot, dry spells. Greenkeeper uses Scotts® latest wetting and water conservation agent, H2Pro®, to help to solve the two main water-related problems your lawn faces; shortage of water in the event of a hosepipe ban and Dry Patch, areas of drought-stress in the grass caused by a build-up of water-repellent deposits in the foot zone. Greenkeeper's water conserving treatment will ensure that your lawn can make the most of the water available over the summer months to remain lush and green even when it's in short supply.
