Welcome to Mirfield School of Music’s website. Whether you are an experienced player wishing to improve, or a complete beginner, we can help you. All ages and abilities are welcome.

If you enjoy playing at any level, be it solely for fun, or with intention of progressing through the Associated Board exams, then you’ve come to the right place.

Professional and friendly tuition based in Birkenshaw, just off junction 27 of the M62. I visit pupils as far away as Wakefield, Bradford, Huddersfield, Halfiax, Brighouse, Leeds, Castleford, Pontefract, Dewsbury; and all the places in-between. Using a midi keyboard and music editing software I am able to create any piece of music you would like to play, and tailor it to your level; nursery rhymes, pop songs, classical pieces, hymns - anything you can think of.

I teach the ABRSM syllabus, both classical and jazz up to Grade VIII standard. The Associate Board of the Royal Schools of Music is the internationally-recognised becnhmark of music, Grade V is the equivalent of GCSE, Grade VIII is the A' level equivilent. I also teach the accompanying ABRSM theory to Grade VIII. As a jazz pianist I do courses in improvistation, harmony and composition; this involves reading chord structures rather than traditional notes on the stave - many students find this system easier to learn.

My other job is an accompanist in schools, therefore I have a full CRB check. I also have ABRSM Grade VIII and a BA(hons) in music from Leeds University.
