Man dies in Pickering collision

Man dies in Pickering collision

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses following the death of a man in a road traffic collision in Pickering.

At around 10am on Wednesday 22 February 2012 a silver Honda Accord collided with the wall of a driveway on Westgate, near the Sun Inn.

The driver of the vehicle, a 58-old-local man, was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.

The road was closed as officers conducted their investigations into the collision and to allow the vehicle to be recovered.

It reopened at 1.50pm.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to get in touch with information.

Traffic Constable Ian Barratt, of Malton Roads Policing Group, said: "We are trying to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the collision and I am urging anyone with information to come forward.

"If you saw the incident itself or the vehicle prior to the collision, please contact the police with information."

Anyone who can help the investigation is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 - select option 2 - and ask for Ian Barratt or Malton Roads Policing Group, quoting reference number NYP-22022012-0104.

* We are not in a position to release the identity of the deceased at this stage.
