Air source heat pumps provide all the energy necessary to run the highly efficient underfloor heating system on both floors and also a high proportion of the heat required for the hot water system. Solar Panels are also used for hot water in the main barn.

Nearby Malton is a quiet undisturbed market town with a pretty market square. There are three Maltons, Roman Malton at Orchard Fields off the Old Malton road, Old Malton with pretty stone cottages and present day Malton. See some Roman artifacts in the museum off the market square. Malton has a history of race horse training and today is still one of the most important horse training centres in the North of England. The stables and gallops surround this North Yorkshire market town.

Monday - North Yorkshire Moors and The Hole of Horcum a spectacular deep gorge set on the edge of the moors, taking in pretty Levisham village.
Tuesday - The Wolds Way taking in the gentle rolling Yorkshire Wolds (pick up half to one mile at nearby Winteringham).
The Wolds are unspoilt area with very few settlements. The village bakery at Scampston sells home made bread, cakes, pork pies and sausage rolls for your mobile lunch. Otherwise your nearest stop for food is the tea rooms at Millington approximately 14 miles from Winteringham). Entire walk 72 miles!
Wednesday - The Cleveland Way and Filey Brigg, takes in moors, dramatic cliffs and towns of Scarborough and Whitby.
Walk the Cleveland Way from Filey towards Scarborough Castle and Whitby Abbey. Alternatively start at Helmsley (20 miles drive) to take in the moors. The complete walk is 110 miles! If you take in Whitby visit the famous Magpie Café for the best fish and chips in Yorkshire.
Thursday - Flamborough and Bempton - spectacular cliffs take in the RSPB bird reserve. Walk 7 or 11 miles.
Pub and tea shop in Bempton, Rose and Crown and Ship Inn Flamborough for real ales. Details of all walks, with maps and things of interest to look out for will be waiting for you on arrival.
