Top tips for green-fingered enthusiasts at Cornwall in Bloom training
Volunteers wanting to take part in this year’s Cornwall in Bloom competition will be offered top tips for success during a training event on Saturday 11 February at New County Hall in Truro.
Taking place from 9.30am in the Members Gallery, the volunteers’ training event will include tips on planting and obtaining permission from landowners as well as advice from previous Cornwall in Bloom winners. There will also be guidance on manual handling, grant funding and marketing.
Now in its third year and run by Cornwall Council and Truro City Council, the Cornwall in Bloom competition has encouraged many residents to work together to improve their neighbourhoods.
Councillor Julian German, Cornwall Council cabinet member for Environment, said: “This get together will be great for those interested in making their community a better environment in which to live.
“There will be ideas from residents who have been involved in transforming the way their communities look and also an opportunity to win useful tools. I am happy to recommend this event to individuals, existing community groups and parish and town councils. I am really looking forward to taking part.”
Last year 66 groups entered the competition to make over their gardens and open spaces.
