ROADWORKS REPORT WEEK ENDING: 12th July 2009

 

New Works

 

Newport Bridge

 

As a result of repair works to the overhead bridge handrail, temporary
closures of Newport Bridge are required on Sunday 12th July between
07:00 and 19:00. It is anticipated the works will be completed on 12th,
however a further closure may be required the following Sunday.

 

All access is to be restricted (including pedestrian access). Emergency
Services will be the exception.

 

Access for emergency services vehicles will be maintained at all times
during the works. Access to Terra will be maintained via Portrack
Interchange and the A1032 Newport Bridge Approach Road only. A diversion
route will be signed via the A66, A19 and A1032 Newport Bridge Approach
Road for all other vehicles.

 

Thornaby Road

 

Highway Construction are to begin works on a cycleway on Thornaby Road,
adjacent to Sun Gardens, on Monday 6th July for approximately 8 weeks,
however no significant roadworks are expected.

 

A19

 

As a result of bridge inspections being undertaken by Autolink,
temporary lane 1 closures in both directions are required on the A19
between the A1046 Portrack Lane and the A1027 from Friday 10th July
until Tuesday 14th July between 20:00 and 06:00hrs.

 

A19

 

As a result of grass cutting being undertaken by Autolink, a temporary
lane 1 closure in both directions is required on the A19 between the
A174 and Leven Viaduct on Wednesday 8th July between 20:00 and 06:00hrs.
On Thursday 9th July a lane 1 closure will be in effect between Leven
Viaduct and the A67 between 20:00 and 06:00hrs.

 

 

 

Continuing Works

 

Norton High Street

 

The work to 44 - 48 Norton High Street has now reached a state where the
closure of the footway has been removed. The footway is available for
pedestrian use and the barriers that formed the diversion have been
removed. However, it is likely that there will be work on the footway to
repair damage to the paving caused by the construction work. Pedestrians
will be channelled around these works. Further updates will be included
in future reports.

 

NORTH MIDDLESBROUGH ACCESSIBILITY SCHEME

 

Following completion of the concrete safety barrier on the central
reservation of the A66 between Newport Interchange and the A19, the
offside lane of each carriageway has been reopened to traffic to allow
works to be completed on the A66 verges.

Two lanes will continue to be maintained in each direction over Newport
Interchange, with the nearside lane of both carriageways closed to allow
improvements to the surface water drainage system.  These works are
expected to continue until the end of July 2009.

 

The 30 mph speed limit will remain in force to ensure the safety of road
users and the workforce.

A66 MAINTENANCE WORKS

 

Lane closures are necessary each Sunday at various locations on the A66
for detailed inspection works, gully cleaning, and repairs to street
lighting etc.

 

Lane closures will be in place on Sunday 12/07/09 at the following
location:

Albert Viaduct, eastbound carriageway off-side lane and westbound
carriageway near-side lane.

 

Allens West Level Crossing, Durham Lane

 

As a result of maintenance works being carried out by Network Rail,
temporary closures of Allens West Level Crossing are required on the
following dates and times:

 

23:30hrs Monday 6th July until 07:00hrs Tuesday 7th July 2009.

 

A diversion route will be signed via A66 and A135 Yarm Road. Any
affected bus services will u turn at Greenfield Drive rather than
Kingsmead roundabout.

 

Access for pedestrians and emergency services will NOT be maintained
during these works.

 

Riverside Car Park, Stockton

 

A temporary closure of Riverside car park and associated footpath /
cycleway is to be in place from Monday 6th April for 6 months to ensure
that the stabilisation / dismantling works of the TS Kellington can be
carried out safely.

 

The Schedule of Restriction is as follows:

 

Riverside Car Park - From the entrance of the car park - the entire
western side

 

Footpath / cycleway (south side of the Riverside car park) - From its
junction with the eastern boundary of the Riverside car park in a
westerly direction for a distance of approximately 180 metres.

 

Access for pedestrians will not be maintained during the works

 

Hardwick Primary School, Hardwick

 

Work started on Monday 11th May and is now substantially completed.
Final surfacing will take place by mid-July.

 

Beaconsfield Road, Norton

 

As a result of Balfour Beatty's carrying out gas mains renewals works
temporary traffic signals are required at Norton Green along
Beaconsfield Road to Billingham Road from Monday 8th June until Friday
31st July. The signals will be in operation 24 hours a day.

 

Williams Street, Stockton

 

The temporary road closure of Williams Street from its junction with
Dovecot Street in a Southerly direction for approximately 40 metres has
been extended until 29th November 2009 or until works are completed,
whichever is the earlier.

 

Brunswick Street, Stockton

 

The temporary one way order on Brunswick Street (northbound only) from
its junction with Dovecot Street in a Southerly direction for
approximately 30 metres, has been extended until 24th December or until
works are completed, whichever is the earlier.

 

Allensway, Thornaby - Toucan Crossing

 

This construction by Service Stockton is to commence 20th July for 2 to
3 weeks.  Further updates on any traffic management involved will be
included in future reports.

 

Marsh House Avenue, Billingham

 

As a result of reconstruction of the east footpath running from the
roundabout with Low Grange Avenue to the junction with High Grange
Avenue, there will be 2 way lights for restricted hours (09:30 - 15:30),
from 29th June for approximately 8 weeks.
