National survey on the road to better customer feedback

National survey on the road to better customer feedback

Issued on behalf of Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees

THE public's views on the Tees Valley's highways and transport services will soon be compared with others across the country, thanks to a public satisfaction survey starting on Monday (29 June).

The five councils in the Tees Valley area - Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees - are amongst 77 nationwide to sign up to a standardised survey that will ask the public exactly the same questions, wherever they live.

The National Highways & Transport (NHT) Network Public Satisfaction Survey will enable Local Authorities to compare results, share in best practice and identify opportunities to work together in the future.  It is the result of months of hard work between the NHT Network, a regional Highways Service Improvement Group and a number of Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnerships.

More than 20,000 Tees Valley households, chosen at random, will receive the questionnaire from Monday (June 29), with local and national results expected to be published later this summer.  Since the survey is based on a sample, residents that receive a copy are being urged to take part.

Peter Radford, Chair of the NHT Survey Committee, said:  "There are clear benefits to conducting a public survey in this way.  As well as providing excellent value for money, it also enables everyone involved to identify areas of best practice and spot national, regional and local trends.

"This is not about producing a league table to champion one geographical area over another, it is about understanding customer views better and working together to deliver the best possible outcomes for local residents."
