WOMEN across the Stockton Borough are invited to don their running shoes and join the North East's first female running network.
The network, which started in Stockton in January, welcomes women of all ages, sizes or ability the opportunity to run together to improve their health, fitness, confidence and safety.
The 10-week beginners running course takes women from walking to running up to three miles. Sessions are informal and fun - focussing on technique, improving stamina and speed.
The course costs £40 which includes annual membership to the Women's Running Network, t-shirt, water bottle, and membership card which entitles the runner to discounts at local running stores. The course fee also includes the £2 weekly subs for the 10-week course.
Joanne Heron, Stockton Council's Health & Fitness Development Officer who organises the network, said: "Our groups run from Tesco in Ingleby Barwick, Durham University, Queens Campus, Stockton, and Northfield Sportsdrome, Billingham. We offer something for runners of all abilities, and we have strong links with local running clubs - should the ladies take the next step and chose to join them. The finale of each 10-week course is marked with a well deserved get-together of all groups and leaders at the local pub to celebrate! "
To find out more about the Women's Running Network come along to one of their enrolment evenings where you can meet your instructor, join a group and ask any questions you may have.
Enrolment for the Ingleby Barwick course will take place on Monday, July, 6 from 6-7pm in Starbucks within Tesco, Ingleby Barwick.
Enrolment for Stockton course will take place on Tuesday, July 14, from 6.30-7.30pm at Durham University Stockton Campus Sports Building.
Enrolment for the new Billingham course will take place on Thursday, July 16 from 6.30-7.30pm at Northfield Sportsdrome, Northfield School, Thames Road, Billingham.
