With the weather warming up and plenty of park events planned, there is no better time to enjoy Solihull's parks than this half-term.
Sandwiching the week are two outside concerts - a perfect chance to enjoy a picnic and listen to hits from musicals, TV and films performed by a local brass band. The Music in the Park events are in Shirley Park on 30 May, 2pm-4.15pm, and Tudor Grange Park on 6 June, 1pm-3pm.
On Tuesday 1 June, 10.30am-1.30pm, Shirley Park will be going football crazy in preparation for the World Cup. Children are being invited to come to the park to practise their football skills with the Park Rangers and take part in a World Cup craft competition.
For children who love all things creepy crawly, Elmdon Park is hosting an insect extravaganza on Wednesday 2 June, 11am-1pm. Visitors can bring an old plastic bottle and transform it into an insect mansion.
From bugs to cuddly bears, there will be a teddy bear's picnic on Thursday 3 June, 11am-1pm in Olton Jubilee Park. Children are invited to bring their favourite bear along to meet the Park Rangers and Bearemy from Build-a-Bear Workshop, watch a Punch and Judy show and take part in a great competition.
Children will be able to go batty with the rangers in Knowle Park on Friday 4 June, 11am-1pm, where they'll be making bat boxes and learning more about the fascinating creature. They will be able to take their bat box home for £3.50 or leave it in the park. Places for this event are limited, call 0121 704 8000 to book a place.
