Information sought after man is robbed in Portsmouth
Police are appealing for information after a man was robbed in Portsmouth.
At some time between 11.55am on 12.30pm on Thursday, June 18, the 18-year-old victim was walking along Arudnel Street, Portsmouth, towards Commercial Road. As he approached a convenience store, he was approached by a male and a female.
The man demanded money from him whilst the female searched his pockets and took forty pounds in cash and a Sony Ericsson W350i mobile phone. While this was happening, the man assaulted the victim by hitting him in the head and face.
He was then pushed backwards by both of the offenders. A second man then approached and grabbed the victim and with the first man, lifted him up from the ground and dropped him on the pavement.
All three offenders then ran off towards Fratton Road.
Police have been given descriptions of the three people they would like to speak to.
The first man is described as:
- White
- Aged around 18
- Stocky build
- Wearing a yellow sports top
The female is described as:
- White
- Aged around 16
- Large build
- About 5ft 7ins
- Shoulder length blonde hair
- Wearing a pink top
The second man is described as:
- White
- In his mid 20s
- About 5ft 6ins
- With a skin head
- He had facial hair
The victim received minor injuries to his face and neck.
Detective Constable Toby Wilson, said: "It is unusual for an incident like this to happen in broad daylight in such a busy area of the city. As the area was so busy at this time of day, I am confident that there would have been witnesses to this incident and I would urge anyone who saw anything, or anyone who believes they have information about this incident, to come forward. Your information will be treated in the strictest confidence."
A man and a woman, both aged 18 from Portsmouth, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and released on police bail until September 3.
