Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault on a family who were visiting friends in Portsmouth.
At around 12.30am, a couple, a man and a woman aged 35 and 48, the woman's son, 22, and his girlfriend, left their friends' house on Stamshaw Road.
As they went to get into a taxi, the son was approached by an unknown man and woman who threatened him and his girlfriend.
He attacked the son and the woman went for his girlfriend who suffered a broken nose. The original couple and the couple who live on Stamshaw Street tried to intervene.
The offenders were joined by another two men and women. As a result of the disorder, there was damage to a courtyard wall and a window at the front of a house was smashed with a brick.
The offenders left before police arrived. They are described as:
Man one - white, early 20s, slim build with a sun tan, wearing a navy polo shirt and jeans, short blonde/sandy coloured hair
Man two - white, early 20s, blonde spikey hair, wearing black clothing.
Woman one - white, 17 to 18-years-old, 5ft 4ins tall, plump build with a round face, dark medium length hair with a fringe, wearing a black and white striped top and black leggings.
Woman two - white, 17 to 18-years-old, 5ft 4ins tall, medium build, black hair pinned back, wearing a yellow and green patterned top
The victims were unable to provide descriptions of the remaining offenders.
The 48-year-old woman suffered a broken nose and bruising. Her partner, the 35-year-old man, suffered cuts and grazes. Their friend, a 48-year-old woman, suffered bite marks and bruising and was treated at the Queen Alexandra Hospital. The son ended up with a cut to his inside lower lip.
PC Melanie Biggs from Portsmouth's Targeted Patrol team said: "This was a completely unprovoked attack on a group of people who had been visiting friends in Portsmouth.
"It was a violent, alcohol fuelled incident that has resulted in significant injuries to the victims and damage to the property.
"People in the vicinity would have heard the commotion and possibly seen the offenders. They have yet to be identified.
"This is an appeal to anyone who witnesses the incident and who may know the persons involved to come forward and speak to the police."
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Biggs at Cosham police station on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
