Appeal after driver leaves the scene of a collision outside Portsmouth hospital
Police are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian was injured in a road traffic collision outside the Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth.
At around 2.30pm, Monday, July 19, a 54-year-old man was waiting to cross Nightingale Road outside the discharge entrance to the hospital when he was struck by a car.
The vehicle passed close to the curb and struck the man on the foot, causing him to fall to the floor.
The car, which is black in colour, stopped further up the road. The driver got out and asked the man if he was ok before getting back in and driving off.
The man ended up with a broken foot bone and cuts and grazes to his arms and legs and was treated at the hospital A&E department.
Nightingale Road is a busy area around the Queen Alexandra hospital, and police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident.
The driver is described as a white man, about 45-years-old, 5ft 8ins tall, wearing a white top and dark trousers.
