Thames Valley Police recognised for the high quality of service at police stations in Milton Keynes

Thames Valley Police has this year officially been recognised as providing a consistently high quality of front counter service at every police station across Milton Keynes.

All seven of Milton Keynes police stations have been awarded the ISO 9001 registration; the international standard for Quality Management Systems (QMS). The registration began three years ago is now officially complete.

A/Ch Supt Nicola Ross, Milton Keynes Commander, said: "I am delighted that the Milton Keynes police stations have earned this prestigious accolade. This is a tribute to the hard work and professionalism of our front counter staff and marks an important step forward in becoming a more customer focused organisation and meeting our stated ambition to serve with pride and confidence."

Explaining the implications of the award, A/Ch Supt Ross continued: "What this means to the public is that they can expect a standardised service at all our police stations. For serious incidents, this has always been the case, but other incidents were subject to local practice and therefore not always dealt with in the same way."

The report states that Thames Valley Police in Milton Keynes has a robust system to manage the quality of service across all of its front counters, and can evaluate these processes to ensure that they meet the publics' expectations.

"This process now allows Thames Valley Police to share best practice within the force," A/Ch Supt Ross added. "If a more efficient process is discovered at one police station, it can now be quickly rolled out across the whole force."

The registering body for this award, ISOQAR, has marked this as the final part of the standardisation process which has taken place over the past three years. Services will be continually reviewed and improved as part of this process, ensuring that Thames Valley police provides the best possible service to the public.

Kelly Scully, Force Counter Services Manager added: "I am really pleased that the front counter staff and volunteers contributions have been recognised in this way. The ISO 9001 registration is the ideal platform for us to continue developing our service to the public. I am extremely grateful to all of those involved."
