Santa's grotto now open

Santa's Grotto in "The Big Top Christmas show" at thecentre:mk is now open. On the 16 November there was a procession through the malls to open the Grotto. The parade featured a friendly ringmaster and circus clowns from the National Clown Association leading Santa, in a specially designed clown car, and Joshua and Minnie Press winners of the "Milton Keynes's Biggest Smile" competition.

Hundreds of families waved and cheered Santa in his annual procession from Door 1 next to M&S, through the shopping centre down both Midsummer Arcade and Silbury Arcade towards the Christmas show in Middleton Hall. The parade was led by a friendly ringmaster with a group of performing clowns who interacted with the audience along the way. The clowns featured a stilt walker, a clown on a mini cycle and a clown on a rolling globe - who also used a skipping rope on the globe outside Santa's Grotto to entertain the gathered crowds.

"The Big Top Christmas show" has been in thecentre:mk since the 6 November and after a fantastic response last year, with 70,000 people riding on the train, there's a welcome return of the Santa's Circus Train.  The show features huge red swags of fabric draped from the ceiling, Santa's grotto dressed as a big top, a 30 foot tall Christmas tree, a wishing pool with a 35 foot tall elephant as the centre piece, an animatronic performing ringmaster, a double decker carousel, 40 foot high helter skelter and dozens of circus figures hanging from trapeze, ropes, in cars, planes and custard pie throwing antics.

Santa's Grotto is open until the 24 of December whilst the rest of the show will remain open Middleton hall until the 3 January. For more information or to book tickets visit www.thecentremk.com
