D Jackson Removals and House Clearances

Not an experience I would recommend

"We were recommended to use this company by Cauldwell Estate Agents, in Milton Keynes. My wife and I were due to complete on the sale of our property a week before Christmas, and (mistakenly) thought if the Estate Agents were recommending these removers, it was a reputable company. The initial quote was competitive, and we were advised there would be three people carrying out the move.
However, on the day of the move only two people turned up. The quantity dropped to just one person when the owner left to carry out another job in the midst of our move.

In order to ensure we got everything loaded in a timely manner, my father and I had to assist in packing their vehicle - not something we envisaged having to do. By lunchtime there were finally three workers on the job. The unloading at our new home was relatively smooth, in spite of our carpets being soiled, and a majority of the boxes ended up in the dining room, regardless of what the labels said.
After the move my wife and I noticed several items had been damaged. As it was Christmas, rather than ring, I chose to text the owner of the company to inform him of the issues. In spite of sending several messages to the number we’d been using to communicate prior to our move, I did not get any acknowledgement. Customer Service did not appear to be part of the company’s ethos.
On the first working day of the New Year, I decided to call. After changing his story several times in regards to their terms and conditions - policies which were never provided - the owner refused to deal with my claims. This would suggest this company may not be insured! Whilst the value of the damage was not great, the principal still stands. During our conversation, I was informed I was lucky not to get charged waiting time whilst we went to collect the keys!! Makes one wonder if price gouging is part of their usual practice, since taking time to secure access to the new property is a standard part of the moving process?

All in all I am disappointed with D Jackson Removals, and would certainly go out of my way to NOT recommend anyone to use them.
