Merseyside Police is appealing for information following a serious assault of a 17-year-old female in Vauxhall on Saturday, 12 June.
At about 11.30pm a 17-year-old female was walking with friends along Goodall Street. As she reached the junction of Roxburgh street where a small piece of wasteland is situated, they were approached by a group of four males who verbally abused them and then proceeded to assault them.
The victim then walked off and was approached by a vehicle and the occupants asked is she was alright.
The victim sustained injuries to her head and was treated at hospital. She underwent surgery and had two metal plates inserted into her upper and lower mouth area and stitches to wounds in her head and mouth.
Detectives are interested in speaking to the occupants of the vehicle as they may have vital information that could help the investigation. The vehicle is described as a silver or dark silver coloured Ford car.
Detective Constable Jason Banks said: "This was a completely unprovoked attack which left a woman with very serious head injuries. I would appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has any information, to come forward so we can progress this investigation further."
Due to the serious nature of the victim's injuries detectives are keen to trace the occupants of the vehicle described. We are determined to catch the man responsible. I would urge anyone with information regarding this incident to contact us immediately to assist our investigation.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
Anyone with information is asked to call Merseyside Police on 0151 777 4065/4066 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
