Nativity’s Rapid move to new home

Nativity’s Rapid move to new home

LIVERPOOL'S favourite nativity scene has been given a fresh coat of paint - and a new home.

The new-look Christmas display will re-open at its new home in a window at Rapid Hardware's new HQ.

The crib, which had moved around various sites in the city centre in previous years, was a must-see Christmas attraction and more than 100 people are expected to turn up to view the new nativity in its new surroundings.

Local artist Simon Armstrong has been commissioned by Liverpool City Council to refresh the original nativity scene. He has used vinyls on the windows to create a 3D effect and the words to ‘Away in a Manger' also feature. The new crib is described by the artist as ‘traditional but with a contemporary feel'.

A short service led by the Legion of Mary will take place in front of the crib in Parker Street at 2pm this Friday (11 December). This will be followed by a free cup of tea for all in the store's 2nd floor Signature Café courtesy of the Liverpool Business Improvement District, Liverpool City Council and Rapid Hardware.
