LIVERPOOL'S Lord Mayor is attending an event which will raise much-needed funds for the Help 4 Heroes charity.
Councillor Mike Storey is attending a concert on the 30 January at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall which features a fantastic night of family entertainment for a cause which he is passionate about.
The night will feature performances from The Kings Division military band, Sense of Sound Choir (Finalists in last year's Britain's Last Choir Standing), Laura Critchley - Singer and Songwriter from Liverpool - who recently went to Iraq to sing from the troops and is acclaimed as the city's modern-day Vera Lynn. There will also be performances from The Mersey Beatles tribute band, MD Productions, Kensington Dance Troupe (Semi-Finalists on last year's TV series Britain's Got Talent) and the Liverpool Scottish Pipes and Drums.
Councillor Storey said: "We recently held a Help for Heroes exhibition at Liverpool Town Hall and I'm a big supporter of our extremely brave soldiers and the very difficult role they undertake. I'm really proud of them and it would be great if on this occasion the city could show them just how much we appreciate the difficult role they do."
"The concert will be really entertaining and spectacular, and I hope that we can sell all of the 1,500 seats which will then hopefully raise over £30,000 for Help for Heroes."
The event is being organised by Dougie Icke Regimental Sergeant Major of 33 Signal Regiment (Volunteers) based in Huyton.
Tickets cost £20 or £15 and can be obtained from the Liverpool Philharmonic box office on 0151 709-3789 or www.liverpoolphil.com
