The official conferences of the International Harm Reduction Association (IHRA) have been held around the world for over two decades and, for 2010, we are returning to the city which hosted the first conference in 1990 - Liverpool, England.

Over five days, this conference will be the main meeting point for all those interested in policies and practices that aim to reduce the harms caused by psychoactive drug use. It is an invaluable platform for advocacy, debate, and discussion between around 1,500 delegates - including senior United Nations and government officials, researchers, practitioners, healthcare personnel, criminal justice personnel, people who use drugs, advocates and activists.

For nearly two decades, these events have been the key forum for the dissemination of 'harm reduction' ideas, and they have helped to put the 'harm reduction' approach on the map.
