Gaumont Cinema, Dingle, Liverpool Ghost Hunt - Saturday 27th February

Start date: 27th February 2010 until 28th February 2010

The Gaumont Cinema, an art deco building erected on the site of the old Dingle Picturedrome. The cinema seated 1,500 people, 615 of them in the balcony. It is said that the projection room was the first in Britain to have the Gaumont 'projectomatic' system which automatically changed the reels during projection of films, as well as controlling the houselights and stage curtains. There was also a Western Electric Mirrorphonic sound system.

The location has caused a lot of interest in the paranormal world over the past few months and was recently aired on Living TV's Most Haunted. It is said to be one of the most haunted locations in the North West and we are glad to be adding it to our Ghost Hunting Portfolio for 2009. Paranormal activity include shadows seen around the theatre, and the outline of people sitting in the original seats! There is a story that after it was decommissioned as a cinema like so may around England the Gaumont was then changed into a bingo hall. Allegedly one of the customers died while playing the game and is said she haunts the Gaumont. Also sadly, a gentleman took his own life behind what was the screen wall and he has been seen and heard still walking the area where he took his own life. The rope is still tied to the beam where he was cut down from; mediums feel the area is very active with energy.

Down below in the cellar area a man has been seen and occasionally some past staff has spoken to this gentleman asking why he was there and he has disappeared in front of them. The Gaumont past seems very interesting for historians to when they have visited they have commented why there is such a large amount of doors opening onto brick walls. This has left them wondering has this building being here much longer than the present owner believe and there could be a building within a building.

The event will commence at 9pm, please arrive at the venue between 8.30pm and 9.00pm. No food will be served on this event only hot drinks; we therefore encourage you to bring additional snacks for the night.
