Community urged to report graffiti in Stoneygate and Knighton

Neighbourhood officers for Stoneygate and Knighton in Leicester are working with the community to wipe out graffiti and vandalism.

The neighbourhood policing team is holding a community consultation event at the Lytch Gate on Chapel Lane in Knighton between 5.30pm and 8.30pm on Friday July 25.

Officers will use the event as an opportunity to update residents on the work that has already been done to tackle graffiti and vandalism in the area, and to ask members of the public for their help by reporting incidents.

PC Guy Swatland said: "We have been working with partner agencies to reduce problems relating to graffiti and vandalism in this area. A number of crimes reported have already been detected and the person responsible is being dealt with.

"I would ask local people to continue to report any incidents to either the policing team or to Leicester City Council so that we can deal with it effectively and identify problem areas."

Sergeant Angela Ruston said: "The team has close links with Leicester City Council through the Parks Department and Trees and Woodlands. The street services and graffiti clean up team are active in the area and any offensive graffiti, once reported, is removed within 24 hours. Some of our partners in this work, such as the Police and Community Support Group and Leicester City Council, will also be available to speak with residents on July 25."
