Your support will go towards research into Gonads!
As part of its on-going fight against cancer in young people, the Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust has pledged to fund research to help establish the best form of treatment for teen and young adults with Germ Cell Tumours (GCTs). GCTs usually affect the testes and ovaries or gonads as they are collectively referred to. Although rare, tumours in the gonads are amongst the most common cancer in adolescents.
Unfortunately GCTs in this age group are often overlooked as medical teams focus more on children, older adults or specifically men or women, which means treatment for adolescents, is poorly understood and often undertaken on wards that aren’t tailored to young patients’ needs.
YORKSHIRE AND PROUD: The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust is a Yorkshire based charity, the research is carried out in Yorkshire, taking place at St James’s Hospital in Leeds and it is being led by Yorkshire based Doctors from Huddersfield and Leeds. Yet the results from this research could have an impact world wide –therefore we are Yorkshire and proud.
