Dr Jennifer Kewley Draskau
The Great War placed the Isle of Man at the forefront of history. Lives were lost and
fortunes were made. The Island punched above its weight, provided many fighting
men, accommodated huge internment camps for 'enemy aliens', with all the logistics
problems that such a major operation entailed, and took the first step towards social
reform. The impact of the War on the local community will be examined. Case
studies will provide depth and detail.
