An interesting exhibition will be on display from the 6th December to commemorate 180 years of Leicestershire Police. The exhibition looks at events dating back to February 1836 when Frederick Goodyer was appointed as the first head constable of Leicester Borough Police and other key moments in the history of Leicestershire Police up to the present day. Other notable dates include the issue of the wooden truncheon in 1843, the first speeding prosecution given in 1899 and the Green Bicycle Murder in 1919.
