A total of ten people have been arrested following a series of warrants being executed in the Grovehill area of Hemel Hempstead in connection with burglary and drugs supply.
The operation – known as Operation Climb – has been the culmination of months of work by police officers targeting burglary and drugs supply in the town.
Over sixty police officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary’s Tactical Team, Hemel Hempstead Safer Neighbourhoods team, intervention officers and the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire dogs unit were all involved in the operation.
Five males from Hemel Hempstead, including two 19-year-olds, a 20 year old, a 16 year old and a 22 year old, were arrested in the Grovehill area of Hemel Hempstead yesterday (Tuesday August 31st).
All five men were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.
A further five people were arrested in Hemel Hempstead this morning
(Wednesday September 1st) following the execution of eight warrants at addresses in Hemel Hempstead. These include:
A 26-year-old male arrested at an address on Crawley Drive on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs.
A 25-year-old male arrested at an address on Yeomans Ride on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs.
A 38-year-old male arrested at an address on Park Crescent on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs and under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
A 23-year-old male arrested at an address on Ninian Road on suspicion of possession and intent to supply Class B drugs
A 47-year-old female arrested at an address on Ninian Road on suspicion of possession and intent to supply Class B drugs.
Inspector Nick Caveney from Hertfordshire Constabulary’s Tactical Team, who led the operation, said: “Today’s arrests have been the result of a significant intelligence-led operation into tackling burglary in Hemel Hempstead and across Dacorum.
“Officers were able to make links to the supply of drugs in the area through this work. The arrests which we have made today and yesterday show our determination to deny criminals the use of our county and to reassure the people of Dacorum that we will do all we can to bring to justice the minority of people who commit these types of crime.”
Chief Inspector for Dacorum, Mike Pryce, said: “Tackling drugs is and will remain a priority for Hertfordshire Constabulary and these arrests are a significant development in our ability to disrupt drug markets.
“I would like to reassure the public that drugs are not a major problem in Dacorum but we still ask the public to let us know of any drug-related activity in their area.”
