Cricket season hailed a success

Cricket season hailed a success

Harrow's first cricket season for people with disabilities came to an end last week with a special presentation.

The cricket matches have been running at West Harrow Park over the summer, bringing together players from across the borough.

They competed against other service users from Harrow's Neighbourhood Resource Centres (NRCs), including many in wheelchairs.

The matches were organised by Harrow Council and Harrow's Safer Neighbourhood Teams.

"The cricket matches were a great success," said Councillor Margaret Davine. "They brought together a perfect mixture of outdoor exercise and support everyone in getting active."

The season's final game was followed by a special presentation ceremony at the Vaughan Centre, with Chief Inspector Nick Davies given the task of handing out the awards.

He said: "I was really impressed with the enthusiasm shown by everyone from the Vaughan Centre.

"Our Safer Neighbourhoods Teams interact with all sectors of our community across all of Harrow's 21 wards - the cricket in West Harrow Recreation Ground is just one example of this positive engagement."
