An 82-year-old woman has had part of her savings stolen in a distraction burglary at her Brent home.
Police say a man called at the property in Buchanan Gardens last Thursday (7 July) claiming that he needed to check the water pressure.
He told the victim the pressure needed checking because of work that was being carried out at the end of the road.
The suspect spoke to the woman in her kitchen for some time before then continuing on his way.
She later noticed that a drawer in her bedroom had been opened and that a large amount of her savings had gone missing.
The suspect is described as a white male with short brown hair and aged between 25 and 30 years old.
He was wearing a brown overcoat and smart clothing, which officers think may have been a suit.
Detective Constable Holly Sexton from Brent Police Priority Crime Unit said: "I am appealing for anyone with any information regarding this incident to call us on 020 8733 3116 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
