Police Appeal to trace vehicles following Stanmore collision

Officers from the Road Death Investigation Unit are appealing for drivers of vehicles who may have witnessed a fatal collision on Honeypot Lane, Stanmore to contact them.

Specifically, they are appealing for the drivers of a five door silver Honda Civic, a white Mitsubishi Lance Evolution, a silver/grey estate car and a blue medium-sized hatchback car (neither vehicle's make or model known). These vehicles have been identified as being directly behind a blue R-registered Honda Accord which lost control on Honeypot Lane, near the junction with Broadcroft Avenue, at approximately 0845hrs on Wednesday, 8 June.

The Accord left the carriageway before colliding with a bus shelter where two men were waiting. One of the men, Vasile Prelipcean, a 42-year-old from Colindale, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second man, aged in his early 50s, was taken to hospital with severe leg injuries. He remains there in a serious but stable condition.

DS Cheryl Frost, of the Road Death Investigation Unit, said: "I would like to appeal to the drivers and or occupants of those vehicles which were behind the blue Honda Accord around the time of the collision to come forward and speak to police. Those people may not be aware of the results of this incident and they may have significant information which could aid out inquiry."

A 23 year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been subsequently bailed to return in October pending further enquiries.
