Residents have a week left to have their say on the future of Harrow.
Harrow Council is currently consulting on a document, which sets out how Harrow 's retail and leisure facilities can develop and where over 5,000 homes could be built in the borough.
The consultation is due to close on Monday 11 January, so it's the last chance for residents to tell the council what they think of the plans, so the council is doing all it can to encourage more people to give their views.
The plan, called the Core Strategy Preferred Option Plan, presents proposals on employment, retail and leisure, climate change, open spaces, transport and development.
A main focus of the plan sets out where new property could be built. It poses the option of building 2,500 new properties around Harrow town centre, Wealdstone town centre and the Kodak site, while the remaining 2,835 homes could be build in other areas across the borough.
Cllr Marilyn Ashton, Harrow Council's portfolio holder for planning, development and enterprise, said: "We are very keen to hear the views of local people on this important plan - there are only a few days left to go before consultation closes, and we want to be sure we've heard the voices of as many residents as possible.
"One of the most significant things about this plan is that we have identified an intensification area - a growth corridor if you like - from the town centre to Wealdstone. This is an area which needs development and is the right place to focus more intensive investment.
"This isn't a blueprint for skyscrapers, quite the contrary. In fact, by carefully managing growth, we will have greater ability to avoid inappropriate developments in parts of the borough that can't take it - for example conversion of family homes into flats and inappropriate use of back gardens for building.
"This is an opportunity for the citizens of Harrow to have their say on the way forward on the future of the borough so I'd urge residents to get involved."
