Clubs to support Non-League Day

Harrow Borough and Wealdstone have given their support to a national initiative this weekend to get more fans going to non-league matches.

September 4 has been christened Non-League Football Day, as England's match on Friday night means there are no Premier League or Championship games on Saturday.

QPR and Harrow Borough fan James Doe came up with the idea after spotting the break in the fixture list.

James said: "I thought it would be a good day to try and get fans of the big clubs to come and sample some football at their non-league club instead.

"I've launched Facebook and Twitter campaigns which have both had encouraging starts with clubs, supporters and media organizations from around the world having already signed up."

Wealdstone play Bury Town on Saturday at Grosvenor Vale and have announced a ticket discount to support the initiative.

Supporters will be able to get into the match for just £5 if they show a valid season ticket for another club, with Stones extending particular welcomes to QPR and Watford fans from the Ruislip area.

Harrow Borough are away at Cray Wanderers on Saturday, but will also offer discounts at their match on Tuesday night at Earlsmead.

Adults will be able to get into the Lowestoft game for £5 with a valid season ticket for QPR or another Football League club.

Accompanied children will also be able to watch the match for just £1.
