DETECTIVES investigating the murder of Molly Morgan are offering a reward of up to £20,000 and releasing CCTV footage to the media of Mrs Morgan in an effort to bring the perpetrators to justice.
At about 19:40hrs on Thursday 15 January 2009, 81-year-old Molly Morgan was on her way to Kenton Library to a lecture about 'Buildings in London'. She had walked approximately a mile from her home to Streatfield Road, Harrow, where she was attacked.
Her handbag was pulled so violently that it resulted in her falling and sustaining injuries to her head and the left side of her body. She was taken to NorthwickParkHospital where her condition worsened and she later died on Friday 16 January 2009.
Mrs Morgan had lived in the local area for over 50 years. She was a widow and leaves one daughter.
A post-mortem examination gave cause of death as subdural haematoma. Mrs Morgan had suffered a broken left arm and multiple fractures to the left side of the face consistent with a fall.
Property taken during the robbery included a brown leather-effect shoulder bag containing an empty Sainsbury's carrier bag, an electrical extension lead and a brown and gold 'Primark' umbrella.
Detective Chief Inspector Jessica Wadsworth, from the Homicide & Serious Crime Command (HSCC), who is leading the investigation said: "This is still an active murder investigation. I am convinced there are people out there who know the identity of the murderers, which is why we are offering this substantial reward for information leading to the identification, arrest and prosecution of those responsible.
"It is evident from the images released today that Mrs Morgan was an extremely vulnerable, defenceless lady and she was attacked because of this. I hope this renewed appeal will prompt people to come forward who, for whatever reason, didn't come forward at the time, it's not too late, please come forward now - Molly deserves justice".
As part of this renewed appeal officers will be handing out leaflets at the scene at 11:00hrs onwards on Friday 26 February 2010.
