1p gym membership at leisure centre

Harrow Leisure Centre is offering gym membership for just 1p this month, to help residents who want to keep fit for 2010.

Harrow Council's leisure centre in Wealdstone is offering a reduced rate for gym memberships for the remainder of January - helping those who are still struggling through the tail-end of the recession.

The bargain membership is aimed to get more people fit and healthy, as many are keen to do in the new year ready for the summer.

Those who want to join the gym this month will only have to pay a £35 one-off joining fee on top of their 1p membership until February.  The membership gives access to use the gym, pool and group classes.

Councillor Jean Lammiman, portfolio holder for Community and Cultural Services, said: "This is a fantastic offer for anyone thinking of joining the gym this month and is the ideal opportunity for people to fulfill their new year's resolutions.

"There are good facilities at the gym and it offers something that many others don't - you can opt to have a monthly contract, meaning residents are able to stop paying for gym membership if their circumstances change."
