Older people in North East Lincolnshire will have an opportunity to access benefit and pension advice right on their doorstep next month.
North East Lincolnshire Council has teamed up with The Pension Service and Voluntary Action North East Lincolnshire to bring benefits and pensions advice into the community.
The new initiative aims to target older people (over 50 years), who may not always have access to services as readily as residents in other areas of North East Lincolnshire.
Two advisors from the council and the Pension Service will be available in local venues, together with workers from Voluntary Action North East Lincolnshire on several dates in June.
Officers will be able to advise residents on state pensions, housing and/or council tax benefits and a variety of other benefits - to ensure older people are receiving their full entitlement.
Voluntary action officers will be available to discuss options for voluntary work, and will display other helpful information targeted specifically at the older members of the community.
Older people who maybe isolated, or who have never claimed benefits, or are unsure whether they can claim any pension are all encouraged to come along. Events will take place at the following times/ venues:
