Sewer work starts after ice delay

Work has started on a £500,000 project to help tackle problems with sewer flooding in Stroud after the scheme was held up by wintry weather.

Severn Trent is putting down a new storage pipe and increasing the size of the existing sewers.

The work should reduce the likelihood of contaminated water flowing through homes and gardens during storms.

Part of Slad Road will be closed while the work takes place. It is expected to take three months to complete.

Work had been due to start earlier in the month but was delayed by heavy snow and icy roads.

To help reduce traffic delays, London Road in Stroud will be made two-way during the work.

Bus routes 8 and 8a will not serve the Uplands area and the routes will have minor diversions out of Merrywalks.

An additional service, the 8b, will maintain the Uplands and Stroud Hospital link during the closure.
