Protest over University of Gloucestershire cutbacks
Staff and students at the University of Gloucestershire have demonstrated against plans for redundancies and course closures.
The university has said it intends to close the Pittville campus in Cheltenham and its site in London.
Thirty jobs will also go from its Francis Close Hall site.
Unions blame poor management for the cuts but the university said it could not afford to continue with its high ratio of staff to students.
'Student cap'
In December bosses admitted the university had overextended itself with the number of properties and sites it owns.
Three years ago the university planned to expand its student numbers and extend its facilities.
But since then a government cap on student numbers had been put in place, a spokesman said.
The demonstration was timed to coincide with the arrival of the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) which was visiting the campus to meet with university officials.
