Boaters' Craft Demonstrations

Start date: 23rd January 2010 until 27th February 2010

Visitors to the Waterways Museum at Gloucester Docks will have the chance to see traditional canal crafts demonstrated by museum volunteers on the 23rd January and 14th & 27th February between 11am and 2.30pm.

Members of the Boaters Craft Group of the Friends of the Museum will be demonstrating a range of crafts including making rag rugs, bonnets, belts, crochet and rope. Doreen Davies, General Manager, says “The demonstrations provide a fantastic opportunity during the half-term holiday for families to see these unique canal crafts and boat demonstrations being brought to life and maybe even have a go themselves.”

The Waterways Museum at Gloucester Docks charts the history of the nation’s inland waterways. The museum boasts vibrant interactive displays which bring to life the history of the docks and the nation’s inland waterways. Visitors can also find refreshment in the adjoining Coots Café Bar.

For more information on the museum and the history of the docks, please visit http://www.nwm.org.uk/gloucester. The museum is open daily from 11am to 4pm. Ticket prices are Adult £3.95, Family £12.00, Concession £3.50, child (5-16) £2.75, under 5s free.
