How good are we?
Residents in East Renfrewshire can look forward to better services thanks to a council pledge to put itself under the microscope.
Staff will follow a self-assessment scheme dubbed ‘How good is our service?' to ask themselves how they're performing in areas such as service planning, people management, customer relations, efficiency and effectiveness.
The first services ton take a close look at themselves are economic development, parks, ground maintenance, community safety and procurement, and they'll do that between November and December.
They will then have to map out an improvement plan and follow it to make their services better. All council services which don't currently have as self-assessment regime in place, will then also use ‘How good is our service'.
Council leader Councillor Jim Fletcher said: "Self-assessment makes services review their own performance systematically and comprehensively. That leads to improvements to the service the public receives thanks to increased efficiency and effectiveness and a commitment to continuous improvement."
