Fife Welcomes Additional Scottish Government Investment in Schools
The Chair of Education and Children's Services Committee in Fife has warmly welcomed an additional investment from the Scottish Government in the Kingdom's school building programme,
Cllr Douglas Chapman said, "This £1.25 billion investment in Scottish schools, of which Fife will get its share, is a very welcome boost to our current school building programme already agreed to in Fife.
This additional funding, using the not for profit Scottish Futures Trust, will help us improve school buildings across Fife. We will be engaging with the Scottish Government and the Scottish Futures Trust at the earliest opportunity to propose further new school building projects in Fife or see if our existing programme can be accelerated to bring existing plans to fruition much quicker than we had originally anticipated.
We will be working over the Summer to make the most of this new opportunity presented to us by the Scottish Government.
Despite a quite dreadful legacy of old, dilapidated schools left to us by the previous Labour run council, this announcement released today along with our desire to improve the educational experience for every child in Fife makes for fantastic news for Fife's children!
